About the Decision Wheel

The Decision Wheel selects one entry from a list you control. Start with your own options, or choose a pair such as Coffee or Tea from the preset selector below the wheel. Those pairs use the same selection rules as a custom list; choosing a different label does not turn the wheel into a recommendation system.

Use it when every available outcome is acceptable: choosing a drawing prompt, a board game, or the order of small tasks. Remove options that do not meet your constraints before you spin. A result cannot assess price, safety, suitability, or another person’s preferences.

Each active row has the same chance on an ordinary spin. With Pizza, Tacos, and Soup entered once each, each has a one-in-three chance. Adding Pizza a second time gives that label two of four chances. Duplicate rows are allowed, so review your list if you want equal chances per distinct choice.

How to use this tool

  1. Replace the example entries in Wheel Entries, or use the Two-choice preset selector below the tool. A preset replaces the active list.
  2. Check the active count and remove unavailable options. The wheel accepts up to 200 active entries.
  3. Leave both repeat controls off for independent selections. Enable No repeats until all are picked for a complete round through the list.
  4. Press Spin and use the displayed result. If you are selecting a task order, record each result or use List Randomizer for the whole order at once.
  5. Use Share to copy the current entries and theme into a URL. Anyone with that link can read the entries; it does not create a live room.

Ways to use the Decision Wheel

A dinner choice with constraints

First exclude meals that do not fit the group’s dietary needs, available ingredients, or budget. Enter the remaining meals once each. The wheel resolves the remaining tie; it does not decide which meals satisfy those constraints.

A drawing warm-up

Enter six subjects and use no-repeat mode for six rounds. Keep the list unchanged during the round. If you need a seventh subject, announce a new list and start a new round.

Tips for better spins

  • Use one entry per distinct option unless duplicate weighting is intentional.
  • For a two-choice preset, the two starting entries each have a 50% chance. Adding a third changes those odds.
  • Use one host and screen sharing when a group needs to watch the same result. Separate copies of a link spin independently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a preset change the random selection method?

No. Presets only supply entries. All use the same wheel engine and repeat controls.

Can I save the decision itself in a share link?

A wheel link saves its entries and theme, not the selected result, scores, or a verified draw record. Record an outcome separately if you need it later.

Is the result certified or suitable for a consequential decision?

No. The wheel runs in your browser and has no independent certification or signed audit record. Use it for informal choices you have already decided are acceptable.
